Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about in-home and virtual physiotherapy.

Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy?

Generally no referral is required to see a physiotherapist. Some extended health plans may require one for reimbursement, so patients should confirm their own plan requirements.

Do you offer direct billing?

Restore at Home provides receipts for submission to extended health insurance plans. Coverage varies by plan.

How much does physiotherapy cost?

The 60-minute in-home initial rate is $200, and the virtual initial rate is $150. For full details on all follow-up options, please see our pricing page.

Where do you provide home visits?

Regular service includes Toronto, North York, Etobicoke and Mississauga. Availability in Scarborough, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton and Oakville is schedule-dependent. Virtual care is available to Ontario residents. View our service areas.

What happens during the first appointment?

The first appointment involves a discussion of your symptoms and goals, a relevant movement and function assessment, initial treatment or education as appropriate, and planning your next steps.

Do I need exercise equipment at home?

No special equipment is required to start. Nicholas can discuss anything needed beforehand, and appropriate household spaces or items may be used when clinically relevant.

Can a family member or caregiver be present?

Yes, where appropriate and with the patient's consent.

Can you provide physiotherapy after surgery?

Yes, where the presentation is appropriate for physiotherapy and relevant surgeon/hospital instructions and precautions are followed. See our post-surgical rehab information.

Is virtual physiotherapy available?

Yes, virtual physiotherapy is available to Ontario residents. Suitability depends on the person's needs, and an in-person assessment or another service may sometimes be more appropriate.

What is the free call for?

It is a brief conversation about fit, service area, pricing and logistics. It is not a physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, consultation, or treatment session.

How quickly will I hear back after submitting the form?

Nicholas will get back to you within one business day.

What if I have urgent or emergency symptoms?

Restore at Home is not an emergency service. If you have urgent or emergency concerns, please seek appropriate emergency or urgent medical care rather than submitting our website form.

What is your cancellation policy?

Full scheduling and cancellation terms are available in our booking policy.
